Rajeev Institute of Technology is a dream conceived by Dr V Rajeev, the then-well-known medical practitioner in Hassan district in the field of paediatrics. Because of his tireless efforts, this technical institute was founded in 2008 under the auspices of the Rajeev Education Trust on a 10-acre plot of land. The college had four departments when it first took off. Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Information Science Engineering are the programmes with a 60-student intake. The Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering departments were added the next year, with an intake of 60. In the same year, the Department of Management Studies was also established.

The postgraduate studies started in 2012 with specialisations in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, Computer Science Engineering, and Thermal Engineering, each with an intake of 18. Additionally, Research centres were set up in the Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering departments to initiate the research activities. The placement activities have picked up pace since 2014, and many of our students have been placed in prestigious companies. A strong team of Teaching and Non-Teaching staff is continuously striving hard for the betterment of our college in all possible ways. In 2022, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning courses were added, and in 2023, VLSI Design and Technology courses were added, with an intake of 60.

Rajeev Institute of Technology has witnessed an incremental change in its growth so far. From budding institute status, it has now carved a niche for itself in the galaxy of technical institutions.
